Living with illness or injury can cause enormous strain in the lives of children and their families. The everyday joys of childhood often take a backseat to the stress of treatment and isolation. Since 1988, The Starlight Children's Foundation has delivered innovative programs within hospital environments, which are integral to the total care of seriously ill children – while health professional’s focus on treating the illness, Starlight is there to lift the spirits of the child, giving them the opportunity to laugh, play and be a child again.

Trek4kidz is committed to supporting the Starlight Children’s Foundation who implement programs to make these hard times a little easier for every member of the family. Since its inception in 1997, Trek4kidz has donated over $750,000 to the foundation to assist with these programs.

Trek4kidz annually holds a driving event over a week in August, whereby people travel through (on dirt tracks and rarely used roads) many different parts of Australia. The trek has visited over 300 towns, numerous hospitals and schools handing out show bags donated by trekker’s sponsors and raising awareness about the fantastic job the Starlight Children’s Foundation of Australia is doing in brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families.

By supporting the Trek4kidz annual event, sgfleet is assisting to help the Starlight Children's Foundation continue to provide meaningful experiences for children and families across Australia. As the Starlight Children's Foundation receives no financial assistance from the government, this money is very important to reach all hospitalised children as these programs currently reach only 1 out of 3 of the 600,000 child admissions made to Australian hospitals each year.
