Employees of any organisation that offer this type of workplace benefit could salary package one portable electronic device per year if it is used for work-related purposes. This includes:

  • mobile phones
  • laptops
  • notebook computers
  • portable printers
  • PDAs 
  • electronic diaries/palm pilots

In order for employees to salary package this they must:

  • have their employer confirm that the device is being used for work-related purposes more than 50 per cent of the time
  • provide a usage diary of 1 month.

As most organisations can offer this, employees should check if their employer provides this type of benefit.
