7 January 2020

This year has been very good for sgfleet, with some exciting events and new developments. Here are just some of them.

January

Green Fleet editorial as part of the ‘100 most influential in fleet’

We were featured in Green Fleet magazine, as part of their ‘100 most influential in fleet’ issue. This was great recognition of our success in the industry as well as fantastic media exposure.

February

Sponsoring Hope for Justice

We announced our support for Hope for Justice, an organisation that works to end modern slavery and exploitation. To this end, we supplied them with a vehicle at no cost, allowing them to carry on their work across the country.

March

Wembley Checkatrade Sponsorship

To promote SoccerLease and celebrate Portsmouth Football Club reaching the Checkatrade Trophy final, we launched a vehicle leasing deal where fans could get their first month’s rental free! We also offered signed merchandise and hospitality for a game of their choice.

April

SoccerLease sponsored PFC’s end of season dinner

SoccerLease was proud to sponsor the End of Season dinner for Portsmouth Football Club. We attended the glittering awards ceremony, donated prizes for the auction, and invited Tesla along so they could showcase the latest vehicles and organise test drives.

Shortlisted for the Stadium Business Awards 2019

SoccerLease was shortlisted for the Stadium Business Awards 2019 in the Sponsorship, Sales and Marketing Award category. Although we didn’t win, we were proud to be recognised for what we had achieved in such a short space of time!

May

Team Edstreme charity match

Team sgfleet took part in a charity match against Team Edstreme on 26th May, helping to raise £6,200 for Mancheck, an organisation that offers early screening for prostate cancer, and the Alzheimer’s Society.

June

LCV Centre of Excellence operational

In June this year, we moved from our former site in Longton to the Tunstall site in Stoke-on-Trent to give us more room to grow. This site is our LCV Centre of Excellence and has space for our Motiva Direct sales area for used vehicles.

Shortlisted in the Workplace Saving and Benefits Awards 2019

We were shortlisted in the Workplace Savings and Benefits Awards 2019 as the ‘car scheme provider of the year’. Even though we didn’t win, we were pleased to be recognised for the work we do in the employee car benefit space.

July

Pretty Muddy

Some of the team participated in the Pretty Muddy Race for Life on 7th July to raise money for Cancer Research. With £2,000 match funding from sgfleet, the team managed to raise a total of over £5,000 for this excellent cause.

Finalists for WSB awards as well as BusinessCar Awards 2019

We were shortlisted for the BusinessCar Awards for the Leasing Company of the Year as well as the best Telematics Product for Motrak.

In the WSB awards, we were finalists in the Car Scheme Provider of the Year category.

Although we didn’t win…

September

Ashes Event

In September, we hosted a number of guests at Old Trafford for the Ashes test match. It was a great match and a chance to catch up with people over a few wickets.

Solihull awards finalists

We were invited to enter the Solihull Awards 2019 for the category of ‘Outstanding Large Business of the Year’. Despite the high number of entries, of a very high standard, we might add, we made it to the list of finalists.

Care in the community

sgfleet Fleet Manager, Claire Shenton, organised a group of volunteers from the Stoke office for a ‘care in the community’ day to tidy up the Betty Rushton garden. The effort was greatly appreciated by the residents and proved to be an excellent team-building exercise for our staff.

October

Sales Re-focus

In October, we had our sales re-focus, where we formed our bespoke mini teams and moved our smaller customers to office-based customer relationship managers instead of field-based ones.

This new structure allows our sales team to work much more closely with our customers. It also enables us to share best practice and make product recommendations, making sales and customer management processes more uniform.

Hampton office move-around

Our Hampton sales office needed a makeover this year, so we had a move-around. The new layout is more uniform and has more space. It gave our mini teams their own designated areas, enabling a customer experience that would be the envy of the industry.

Crown Commercial Service framework

We became a part of the Crown Commercial Service framework after months of hard work. This opportunity allows us to supply to any public entity in the UK, and opens up an avenue of huge growth potential for us!

Saint-Gobain LCV deal

Thanks to the relationship we have with our suppliers, we were able to solve a problem and deliver the right solution to our long-term customer, Saint-Gobain. They needed to replace their current LCV fleet, for which they came to us.

They specifically wanted MAN TGE vehicles linked into Bevans as the converter. Since we have a good relationship with both these companies, we were able to provide them with the products they needed.

November

SG Fleet invests in Collaborate

In order to expand our product offerings, the SG Fleet Group invested $2.2 million in Collaborate Corporation Limited. We can now offer ‘Carly’, a monthly car subscription service in Australia.

Premier SoccerLease test drive event

To promote our Premier SoccerLease service further, we hosted a test drive event at the Portsmouth Football Club training ground. We had several players test drive various cars, and they all left very positive feedback for us!

DPD green fleet

We have been helping our customer DPD achieve its goal of having the largest green parcel carrier fleet by the end of 2020. To this end, the company had already ordered 84 electric LCVs from us.

In November, DPD ordered an additional 300 vehicles from us that will be delivered in the first half of next year. We are also expecting more orders in the next year to bring its EV fleet size to 500 vehicles!

December

Bicycles donated to World Bicycle Relief

Keeping with our theme of ‘mobility’, we donated 60 bicycles to World Bicycle Relief. These went to Sivilie Secondary School in Kenya and will help students be mobile and achieve their goal of acquiring further education.

Applied for two awards

Finally, to end our year on an exciting note, we have sent in our submissions for the Great British Fleet Awards 2019 and the Sentinel Business Awards 2019-2020.

2019 has been the first year we’ve applied for awards, and while we haven’t won any yet, it’s been heartening to be shortlisted as finalists in all of them. We hope you will continue to root for sgfleet in our quest for these two awards. Follow this space for more news.
