Community support

SG Fleet assists the communities in which it operates by making financial donations to numerous organisations that help those in need around the world. We also provide vehicles to a variety of organisations around Australia and the United Kingdom to lend a helping hand to their operations and spread awareness of their various initiatives.

Some of these charities include:

St George Foundation

The St George Foundation is committed to enhance the lives of Australia’s children. The Foundation aims to support programs that give disadvantaged kids and children with a disability a more secure, comfortable and enriching life. This is done by funding programs for smaller charities in the communities where St George customers and staff live and work.

Since its inception in 1990, the Foundation has partnered with over 700 community organisations across Australia and invested more than $17 million to improve the lives of Aussie kids who are physically, socially or economically disadvantaged.

SG Fleet supports the continuation of the exceptional work of the St George Foundation by sponsoring its annual Inspire Luncheon.

World Vision

World Vision

SG Fleet is a proud sponsor of the World Vision program. World Vision is Australia’s largest charitable group and is a widely known not-for-profit organisation that has carried out development work to address the causes and consequences of global poverty for over 60 years. World Vision helps to create sustainable farming practices and educate communities about nutrition issues and assist people and villages to generate and sustain incomes that are essential to poverty alleviation.

SG Fleet have provided financial and moral assistance to the program for a number of years. Each of the 13 children from Africa, Sri Lanka and Guatemala that we sponsor receives regular communication from staff. Teams at SG Fleet have taken the initiative to communicate with a child from the World Vision program by sending letters, cards and Christmas and birthday gifts.

SG Fleet also assists the program by providing support for World Vision’s work with indigenous communities in Australia. The Australia First Nationals program has been in operation for over 30 years and over this time has helped change the future for Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders. The current programs assist the First Nation community by tackling education, economic and housing inequalities, providing assistance on how to combat family domestic violence, and by helping young people build stronger connections with their culture.

World Bicycle Relief

World Bicycle Relief

SG Fleet is a proud supporter of the World Bicycle Relief. In 2019, we donated 60 bicycles to those less fortunate who have no access to vehicles or public transport. This provides them with the opportunity to be mobile in their communities and in their lives.

Our donation helped a number of students at Sivilie Secondary School in the Kakamega County of Kenya. To these students, a bicycle is not a toy but a way of overcoming the challenge of distance that often keeps them from obtaining an education and achieving their goals.

Foodbank

Foodbank

Foodbank is a not-for-profit, non-denominational organisation operating in every state and territory of Australia. Foodbank fights hunger by providing food for 815,000 Australians each month and by acting as an advocate for the almost 1-in-5 Australians who experience food insecurity each year.

SG Fleet has acknowledged the need for this support, signing up to help make a real difference for food-insecure Australians. Each year, we support Foodbank by holding a charity lunch to collect non-perishable food items for donation to over 2,400 charity and welfare groups across NSW and the ACT.

The Woodlands and Wetlands Trust was established to ensure the Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary and Jerrabomberra Wetlands are managed to provide rich and diverse environments for current and future generations.

SG Fleet is pleased to be a sponsor of the Woodlands and Wetlands Trust in the ACT. We provide two vehicles that are invaluable to the ecologists in their field work in the Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary and the Jerrabomberra Wetlands. National Road Safety Week

National Road Safety Week

National Road Safety Week honours those we have lost and pledges to make the roads safer for everyone. It is a great way to promote safer driving and raise awareness of road safety generally, which is important to our industry and our business.

The ‘Drive So Others Survive’ campaign is an initiative of Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH), which was established by Peter Frazer after his daughter was killed in a road crash on the Hume Highway in February 2012.

SG Fleet is a proud supporter of Yellow Ribbon National Road Safety Week. We acknowledge the importance of the ‘vehicle as a workplace’ and the inclusion of driver training and other safety measures in fleet policies. We continue to raise awareness of Drive So Others Survive and National Road Safety Week all year round.
