1,300 lives lost every year, and most of those trips felt routine

For most of us, getting behind the wheel is second nature. Whether it’s the morning commute, a trip to between worksites or the drive home at the end of the day, many journeys are so familiar that we barely think twice about them.

Yet every year, around 1,300 lives are lost on Australian roads, and many of those journeys began just like any other.

In a recent article, we placed the spotlight on the everyday moments behind the wheel and the importance of staying focused, even when the route feels routine. It explores why familiarity can sometimes lead to complacency and how small decisions can have lasting consequences.
