Proud partner of SARAH Group and National Road Safety Week
SG Fleet is a proud principal partner of the SARAH Group, an organisation born from unimaginable loss and one that has grown into one of Australia’s most important road safety movements.
Our support is a reflection of what we believe - that everyone on the road deserves to get home safely, every day, with no exceptions, and creating safer roads is a responsibility we all share.
The reason behind SARAH
Grief became purpose. Purpose became change.
SARAH stands for Safer Australian Roads and Highways, but behind the acronym is something far more personal.
In February 2012, 23-year-old Sarah Frazer tragically lost her life while travelling on the Hume Freeway after her vehicle broke down.
In the months that followed, Sarah’s family made a decision to do something so no other family would have to experience the devastating impact of lives lost or changed forever on Australian roads.
That decision became the SARAH Group.
Founded by Peter Frazer OAM in 2012, SARAH Group is a not-for-profit organisation working to improve road safety outcomes through advocacy, awareness and education. What began as a father’s response to an unimaginable tragedy has grown into one of Australia’s most recognised and respected road safety movements. Today, SARAH works alongside governments, emergency services, communities and businesses to push for real change in infrastructure, legislation and the everyday behaviour of Australian road users.
The impact of their work speaks to what sustained, determined advocacy can achieve. In 2019, “Sarah’s Rule” became law in New South Wales – legislation that requires drivers to slow down and move over when passing a vehicle with hazard or emergency lights. It’s a law named for a young woman whose death could have been prevented by exactly that kind of care.
More than anything, SARAH Group exists to encourage a simple but important message: road trauma is not inevitable, and safer outcomes are possible when awareness, responsibility and action come together.
National Road Safety Week
A yellow ribbon. A pledge. A promise that matters.
Led annually by the SARAH Group, National Road Safety Week encourages Australians to remember those impacted by road trauma and reflect on the role we each play in helping make roads safer.
Throughout the week, communities, organisations, emergency services and individuals come together to raise awareness and show support, often through the recognisable yellow ribbon - a symbol of remembrance and commitment to safer roads.
National and state launches take place across the country, buildings, bridges and landmarks are lit in yellow and people are encouraged to take the pledge to drive so others survive. This year, more than 85,000 pledges were made, reflecting a growing movement of Australians committed to helping make roads safer.
For SG Fleet, supporting National Road Safety Week is part of a broader commitment to helping keep road safety front of mind, raising awareness year-round and encouraging conversations that contribute to safer outcomes for everyone on the road.
Why we stand with SARAH
Road safety is a responsibility that belongs to all of us.
Here at SG Fleet, we manage more than 270,000 vehicles across Australia and New Zealand and are acutely aware of the responsibility we hold as a mobility partner to help keep people and businesses moving safely.
That is why road safety matters to us.
As Peter Frazer OAM puts it: “Our work with SG Fleet is about protecting everyone on the road ahead, not just our drivers, not just our passengers, but ensuring that everyone can get home safe to their loved ones every day, no exceptions.”
As a principal partner of SARAH Group, we lend our network, platforms and voice to road safety, extending the message to our customers, employees and the broader community throughout the year.
Together, we do not just talk about road safety. We model it, share it and hold ourselves accountable to it, because behind every statistic is a person and a family and a life changed forever.
