Eight years of backing one of Australia’s most exciting team sports
Since 2018, SG Fleet has proudly supported Wheelchair Rugby Australia, an organisation dedicated to growing one of the country’s most dynamic and fast-paced sports.
From local clubs to international competition, wheelchair rugby brings together teamwork, precision and determination at every level. More than just competition, it creates opportunities for athletes to challenge themselves and be part of a strong sporting community.
We’re proud to back the people, pathways and moments helping shape the future of the sport across Australia.
Meet wheelchair rugby
Fast, physical, uncompromising.
Wheelchair rugby is a sport that moves quickly and demands a lot from the athletes playing it. Played across eight-minute quarters, with four players per side, every game is a contest of communication, tactics and decisions made in fractions of a second.
Played by mixed gender teams, wheelchair rugby combines strategy and speed in a way that keeps players and supporters coming back for more. For many people, it’s a sport unlike anything they’ve seen before. One match is often enough to understand why so many communities continue to rally behind it.
The organisation behind the game
Wheelchair Rugby Australia (WRA) is the national governing body helping shape the future of the sport across the country. Working alongside clubs, coaches, volunteers, and athletes, WRA support wheelchair rugby at every level, from local participation through to national programs and international competition.
Their role goes beyond game day. By supporting clubs, creating pathways and helping athletes progress through the sport, WRA is helping more Australians discover wheelchair rugby closer to home, while supporting elite competition on the world stage.
The Australian Steelers
At the highest level of competition sits the Australian Steelers, Australia’s national team and one of the country’s most successful parasport programs. With Paralympic and World Championship titles to their name, the Steelers reflect the strength, commitment and talent helping shape wheelchair rugby in Australia today.
Eight years, every event, every kilometre.
The fleet behind game day
Behind every championship, competition and event is a lot of planning to get people, equipment and operations where they need to be.
For eight years, SG Fleet has supported Wheelchair Rugby Australia through vehicle support, helping them manage the travel and logistics that come with delivering key events and competitions across Australia.
As an official partner of the 2026 Santos Wheelchair Rugby World Challenge in Adelaide, we’re proud to play a role in bringing one of the biggest wheelchair rugby events ever held in Australia to life.
That kind of operational support frees WRA to put their energy where it counts most – building the sport, developing athletes and creating events that give wheelchair rugby the audience and recognition it deserves.
A sport worth backing
Competition, community and a shared sense of purpose
What stands out about wheelchair rugby isn’t just what happens during competition, it’s the community that surrounds it.
From grassroots participation to elite performance, the sport continues to bring together athletes, clubs, coaches, volunteers and supporters who care deeply about where its headed next.
Wheelchair Rugby Australia is building something with real momentum and we’re proud to support them and bring awareness to the work being done to help the sport continue to grow across Australia.
