Meet Tayla Grauf

A little bit about Tayla and her career journey
What inspired you to pursue your career journey at SG Fleet?
When I first started here, it was in an entry level role and was intended to be a transitional role until I found work back in my industry. After my experiences within my first year here, I quickly realized that I loved the culture in the company and that the company emphasized professional development so that I could really grow into a career that I was passionate about, which I’ve been able to do in the last eight years working here.
How would you describe your leadership/management style in three words?
Coming from my professional background before starting at SG Fleet, I’ve always had a more relaxed style to a corporate environment (record labels tend to be a bit more laissez-faire). So, I would say lighthearted, loyal and efficient.
What key leadership experience has defined the way you lead?
I’ve always focused on taking traits from other leaders I’ve personally had or worked with that I respect and admire, especially females in leadership roles. We’re very blessed at SG Fleet that there is no shortage of strong, empowered and confident female leaders to look up to.
What advice would you give your younger self who is starting out their career?
To keep focusing on finding the fun in your job because it makes the day-to-day so much more exciting.
Tayla’s involvement with the Women’s Network
What excites you the most about SGWN?
I love having a safe space where women can support and uplift each other, especially in a male-dominated field. The small moments where we can pause and connect during meetings are sometimes the most meaningful and impactful parts of the day.
What does the women’s network mean to you personally and professionally?
It’s a space for women to empower and feel empowered. To lift each other up and bring each other up with us.
Looking ahead
What are your key priorities for SGWN in FY27?
Our theme this year is Elevate. We’re prioritising networking and male allyship as these are both crucial points to get ahead professionally as women.
What is a topic you’re particularly passionate about sharing in SGWN?
As a queer woman of colour, I’m really passionate about intersectionality within feminism and I hope to be able to give more space to that as one of the Co-Chairs for this financial year.
How would you align the network goals with the company's diversity, equity & inclusion objectives?
They go hand-in-hand and there is a lot of overlap in our high-level goals of acceptance, understanding and inclusion. The work of the SGWN is just one aspect helping to push forward the organisation’s DEI goals.
