Frequently asked questions

As an SG Fleet novated driver, we’re here to support you at every stage of your journey. Below is some guidance to help you manage your novated lease smoothly and conveniently.

Accessing your online account

SG Fleet’s driver account portal, Fleetintelligence, is automatically activated when your lease commences.

For access throughout the life of your lease, simply navigate to the login page.

Resetting your password

To get started, go to the login page and select ‘reset your password’. We'll send you an email with a link to change your password to something of your choosing.

If you haven’t received an email within 10 minutes, please check your junk or spam folders.
Paying for fuel

Utilising your fuel cards:

If your lease includes fuel, we will provide you with convenient fuel cards to use at our partnered major retailers Australia wide, which you should receive within 10 business days of your lease start date.

With each of our fuel cards, you have the option of either paying at the pump using the relevant app or presenting your fuel card in-store. When paying using the app, please remember to open the app and check it is working before filling up your vehicle. You will be prompted to enter your odometer reading at the time of the transaction.

Paying yourself and seeking reimbursement:

If you have forgotten your fuel card or find yourself at a service station outside of the SG Fleet preferred providers, simply pay yourself with cash or card, keep the receipt (ensuring it is a valid tax invoice), and seek reimbursement via your Fleetintelligence account.

Stolen or lost fuel card

Contact SG Fleet immediately on 1300 138 235. We will cancel the card and issue a new card as quickly as possible. Please note that you are responsible for all transactions on lost cards until the loss is reported to us.
Finding your local SG Fleet network maintenance and service provider

Our service locator will help you find your nearest local agent within our network of thousands of approved merchants nationwide, including dealerships, mechanical repair centres, major tyre outlets, specialist repairers, automotive glass replacement, and roadside assistance services.

When making a booking with the provider, simply:

  1. Book your preferred time and date and let them know you’re an SG Fleet customer.
  2. Drop your car off.
The service agent will then call SG Fleet for approval, and our Maintenance Assistance Specialists will monitor all work done on your vehicle to ensure no over-servicing and no over-charging.

You’ll receive fleet savings on parts and labour, and the service agent will bill SG Fleet directly. We’ll pay using your budgeted fund balance so that you can pick up your car when it is ready.

Utilising a maintenance or service provider outside of the SG Fleet network

If you need to use a service provider outside of the recommended SG Fleet network, simply pay with your own cash or card, keep the receipt/tax invoice, and seek reimbursement via your Fleetintelligence account.

SG Fleet recommends taking your vehicle to a franchised manufacturer dealer for servicing to ensure your warranty remains valid under the manufacturer’s terms and conditions. Refer to your manufacturer vehicle servicing handbook for more information.
Paying your annual registration

We’ll send you a reminder 6 weeks before your registration renewal is due.

If you have sufficient funds available, we can pay the renewal (and any CTP in NSW) for you. If you don’t have sufficient funds available, you will need to pay your annual renewal fee yourself. Once you accumulate sufficient funds in your account, we can then reimburse you.

Note: If you are in QLD, SA, TAS or NT, please contact your state authority to add SG Fleet as a paying agent if we aren’t already. If you are unable to do this for any reason, please email your renewal notice to registration@sgfleet.com
Renewing your insurance:

  • If you have SG Fleet organised insurance
    • SG Fleet insurance is automatically renewed annually and paid through your novated lease account each month. You will receive full renewal information each year, allowing you to make an informed decision about continuing your policy.
    • Please refer to your Product Disclosure Statement for further details on your policy terms and conditions.
  • If you organised your own comprehensive insurance
    • It is your responsibility to ensure your car remains comprehensively insured. When your renewal is due, please pay for the insurance through your chosen provider and then seek reimbursement via your Fleetintelligence portal. Refer to the ‘Making a Claim’ tab for instructions on how to make a reimbursement claim.
Claiming for out-of-pocket vehicle expenses

There may be times when you need to pay for some of your novated lease expenses yourself and seek reimbursement from SG Fleet. To submit a reimbursement request for your out-of-pocket expenses, click here.

For further assistance, contact Employee Services on 1300 138 235 or novatedservice@sgfleet.com
Calculating your budget

We set a budget upfront to cover all your car’s running costs in one regular payment, eliminating the need for cash or credit cards. This includes:

  • Finance repayments
  • Fuel
  • Servicing, maintenance, and tyres
  • Registration
  • Insurance
When you first enquire with SG Fleet, we provide a quote and set your budgets to reflect your current or projected spending patterns. This way, when you novate, you can pay for these items using a portion of pre-tax dollars and save GST on these running costs. Once the budgets are set, we calculate the total and divide it evenly across your pay cycle, setting up one easy regular payment.

Spending over or under your budgeted amounts

Sometimes life changes, and we understand that this may impact how often you drive. Perhaps you move house and your commute to work becomes longer or shorter. Consequently, you may buy more or less fuel and require more servicing due to increased kilometres. We understand that life happens, and we’re here to help adjust your budgets to match your expenses.

While some of your expenses are fixed costs (e.g., your finance repayments), other items like fuel and servicing are budgeted to reflect your driving and spending patterns. This way, you can continue to enjoy GST savings and use your pre-tax dollars for these items.

We monitor your expenses, so if we notice a change in spending patterns, we’ll reach out to initiate a re-costing of your budgets.

If you anticipate a change in your driving patterns and need a re-costing, simply contact our support team, and they can assist you.

You can also monitor your account balance at any time via your Fleetintelligence online account.

Ending your lease with a shortfall in your budgets

If your balance is in shortfall at the end of your lease, SG Fleet will invoice your employer for the funds to be recovered from your salary.

Ending your lease with a surplus in your budgets

At the end of your lease, any surplus funds will be returned to your employer via your payroll and will be subject to income tax.
If you have more than one vehicle with SG Fleet, simply select the relevant registration from the drop down towards the top right-hand corner of the portal. The widgets will refresh and display the information related to your selected registration.
Process for end of lease

At the end of your lease, you’ll also have what’s called a ‘residual value payment’ due. This is the amount owing on your car at this time, and is calculated in accordance with the Australian Taxation Office.

We’ll be in touch six months out to discuss your residual value options, which include:

  1. Novating a new car with SG Fleet;
  2. Refinancing the existing car for another term, or
  3. Paying out the residual value and owning your car outright.
We can also help you sell your vehicle through our hassle-free Tradeadvantage program

Residual value payment

The residual value is the amount that remains owing on the car at the end of the lease contract, including GST. Minimum residual values are set by the ATO (Australian Tax Office).

Once your lease term expires, you will need to either pay the residual value directly to the financier, or choose to re-finance the lease for an additional term.

Changing employers

If you are moving employers, you may be able to transfer your existing novated lease to your new employer and continue to enjoy your salary packaging benefits. Find out more
