Community support

SG Fleet assists the communities in which it operates by making financial donations to numerous organisations that help those in need around the world. We also provide vehicles to a variety of organisations around Australia and the United Kingdom to lend a helping hand to their operations and spread awareness of their various initiatives.

Some of these charities include:

St George Foundation

St George Foundation

The St George Foundation is committed to enhance the lives of Australia’s children. The Foundation aims to support programs that give disadvantaged kids and children with a disability a more secure, comfortable and enriching life. This is done by funding programs for smaller charities in the communities where St George customers and staff live and work.

Since its inception in 1990, the Foundation has partnered with over 700 community organisations across Australia and invested more than $17 million to improve the lives of Aussie kids who are physically, socially or economically disadvantaged.

SG Fleet supports the continuation of the exceptional work of the St George Foundation by sponsoring its annual Inspire Luncheon.

Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust

The SG Fleet New Zealand office is a proud supporter of the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust (ARHT). The ARHT is a charitable trust that owns and operates the Auckland-based Westpac Rescue Helicopters on behalf of the community it serves. With the support of the families, community organisations and businesses, the ARHT is able to continue its ongoing mission - saving lives.

The rescue helicopter is available free of charge to all, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Two specialised rescue helicopters are watching over more than 1.5 million residents and visitors throughout the coverage area of Auckland and surrounds, staffed full-time by a highly experienced flight crew consisting of pilots, paramedics and crewmen.

SG Fleet is proud to support this commendable charity, which is helping save lives in New Zealand.

World Vision

World Vision

SG Fleet is a proud sponsor of the World Vision program. World Vision is Australia’s largest charitable group and is a widely known not-for-profit organisation that has carried out development work to address the causes and consequences of global poverty for over 60 years. World Vision helps to create sustainable farming practices and educate communities about nutrition issues and assist people and villages to generate and sustain incomes that are essential to poverty alleviation.

SG Fleet have provided financial and moral assistance to the program for a number of years. Each of the 13 children from Africa, Sri Lanka and Guatemala that we sponsor receives regular communication from staff. Teams at SG Fleet have taken the initiative to communicate with a child from the World Vision program by sending letters, cards and Christmas and birthday gifts.

SG Fleet also assists the program by providing support for World Vision’s work with indigenous communities in Australia. The Australia First Nationals program has been in operation for over 30 years and over this time has helped change the future for Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders. The current programs assist the First Nation community by tackling education, economic and housing inequalities, providing assistance on how to combat family domestic violence, and by helping young people build stronger connections with their culture.

Jeans for Genes

Jeans for Genes

Jeans for Genes Day is the major national fundraiser for the Children’s Medical Research Institute, an independent organisation committed to unlocking the mysteries of childhood diseases. The CMRI relies on donations to support scientific research into finding cures and treatments for conditions such as epilepsy, cancer and birth defects. This day is held annually in the first week of August and has so far contributed over $50 million to this charitable organisation.

SG Fleet participates in a matched giving program, where it provides dollar matching for employees’ cash donations.

The Friendship Circle aims to provide these individuals with many of the social and recreational opportunities that are available to the wider community. These experiences are essential building blocks for an individual to acquire confidence and build self-esteem and ultimately lead a productive, adult lifestyle.

SG Fleet recognises the important work that the Friendship Circle does and donates to its major fundraising day, which includes the Friendship Walk.

World Bicycle Relief

World Bicycle Relief

SG Fleet is a proud supporter of the World Bicycle Relief. In 2019, we donated 60 bicycles to those less fortunate who have no access to vehicles or public transport. This provides them with the opportunity to be mobile in their communities and in their lives.

Our donation helped a number of students at Sivilie Secondary School in the Kakamega County of Kenya. To these students, a bicycle is not a toy but a way of overcoming the challenge of distance that often keeps them from obtaining an education and achieving their goals.

Foodbank is a not-for-profit, non-denominational organisation operating in every state and territory of Australia. Foodbank fights hunger by providing food for 815,000 Australians each month and by acting as an advocate for the almost 1-in-5 Australians who experience food insecurity each year.

SG Fleet has acknowledged the need for this support, signing up to help make a real difference for food-insecure Australians. Each year, we support Foodbank by holding a charity lunch to collect non-perishable food items for donation to over 2,400 charity and welfare groups across NSW and the ACT.

Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT

Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT

Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT is a charitable organisation with a mission to enrich the lives of people living with a disability through participation in sport.

SG Fleet is a proud supporter of Wheelchair Sports and recently assisted with the GIO Summer Down Under 2020 race. This is one of the highest profile wheelchair sporting events in Australia, with many athletes having the opportunity to participate in qualifying events such as the GIO 10K Race Day for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, now held in 2021. As part of our ongoing support of Disability Sports Australia, we provided SG Fleet-branded vehicles to help transport competitors and support staff between venues for the duration of the event.

Woodlands and Wetlands Trust

Woodlands and Wetlands Trust

The Woodlands and Wetlands Trust was established to ensure the Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary and Jerrabomberra Wetlands are managed to provide rich and diverse environments for current and future generations.

SG Fleet is pleased to be a sponsor of the Woodlands and Wetlands Trust in the ACT. We provide two vehicles that are invaluable to the ecologists in their field work in the Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary and the Jerrabomberra Wetlands. Both of these are unique areas for studying ecosystem restoration and offer educational and eco-visitor opportunities to the local community and overseas visitors.

National Road Safety Week

National Road Safety Week honours those we have lost and pledges to make the roads safer for everyone. It is a great way to promote safer driving and raise awareness of road safety generally, which is important to our industry and our business.

The ‘Drive So Others Survive’ campaign is an initiative of Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH), which was established by Peter Frazer after his daughter was killed in a road crash on the Hume Highway in February 2012.

SG Fleet is a proud supporter of Yellow Ribbon National Road Safety Week. We acknowledge the importance of the ‘vehicle as a workplace’ and the inclusion of driver training and other safety measures in fleet policies. We continue to raise awareness of Drive So Others Survive and National Road Safety Week all year round.

Bushfire Relief

SG Fleet is proud to provide assistance to those in New South Wales and Queensland affected by the Summer 2020 bushfires.
